The Playoffs Are Just Around The Corner In The BCHL

No matter what sport that you are in, the regular season is all about qualifying and trying to get into prime position for the post season playoffs. The same is in the British Columbia Hockey League and with teams in the league that have only 10 or less more games to play, it is crunch time in the BCHL and the teams who want to get the leverage for the Page Cup playoffs need to step up now. Like that old saying goes: It’s better now than never.

Vipers Move Up In CJHL; Gladiuk Gets POW Honor

The Vernon Vipers have certainly been one of the more improved teams in the British Columbia Hockey League in this first month of the New Year and currently see themselves sittinga atop of the Interior Confrence standings. For two weeks this month they ranked 18th overall in the Canadian Junior Hockey League’s Top 20 of Canadian junior league hockey teams and the latest poll sees the Vipers climb up the charts to number 13. Powell River dropped to number 5 and the Penticton Vees dropped to 16. The Vipers made a 5 position jump and with them being the two time defending BCHL champs, don’t be surprised if the Vipers don’t break the top ten or even the top 5 before the regular season is over.

Powell River and Vernon In Key Battle Over Weekend

The BCHL has been all about the Powell River Kings this year and this past Friday night the team played a very important game over the new Interior Confrence leading Vernon Vipers. The Vipers had been in a close battle with the Pentiction Vees for first place and at the current moment it is the Vipers who are sitting atop the confrence. The Vipers hosted the Kings on Friday night at the Westbild Centre in Vernon and this game was certainly one that had playoff atmosphere written all over it as it was certainly a possible showcase of a BCHL Championship series here in a couple months.
