Gold and silver are at their all time highs as far as price goes these days. The reason for this is that confidence in the US Dollar has tanked, oil and food prices have been inflated all around the world, and the conflicts that are ongoing in the Middle East and Northern Africa have people in a constant state of fear. Any investment professional will tell you that gold and silver are excellent hedges against a faltering economy and there is no better place to go for gold and silver than the British Columbia Interior. The Interior has a long history of mining and the British Columbia Gold Rush of the 1800′s got its start in the Interior. As a matter of fact, anyone can go to the BC government and gets permits which allows them to pan for gold and silver to this very day.

One place that a person needs to check about gold and silver in the BC Interior is at www.BCgoldandsilver.com. They are an exploration and small scale Placer Gold and Silver Operator which give a person all the information and the resources that they need when it comes to finding gold and silver in the Interior. The law is that there are about a dozen claims areas for free public recreational panning use. The thing is a person needs to know how to go about getting to those claims and know the basic guidelines that goes with getting your panning expedition underway.

At these claiming locations, a person needs to know that these are for recreational use only, no commercial entities are allowed. A person is allowed to have a pan, shovel, and metal detector. These free claiming areas are in prime gold producing areas. Some of these are Barnes Creek, Cayoosh Creek, Goldstream River, Hope, Kennedy River, Quesnel-Fraser River, Spruce Creek, Wild Horse River, and Yale. The British Columbia Government’s Ministry of Mines are the governmental body that a person would need to confer with when it comes to going to these public claiming areas. The great thing about these is that it can make for a fun family get together and the great thing is that if a person is able to find a big piece of gold or silver, it can certainly end up cashing in big dividends with the status of today’s gold and silver market.

British Columbia, Canada is without one of the most beautiful places that have ever been inhabited. There have been people here for years and they are one the ones who have kept on the traditions that make this place so special. There are people also who come here to lay roots from all other different parts of the world. It is these people who encompass and make up the economy and job market in BC. Here is a small look into the economy and job market in British Columbia.

The service sector is the main employer in British Columbia. It has been noted that British Columbia has the biggest service oriented economies in all of Canada. No matter if you are on the coast or in the interior of British Columbia, you are going find some kind of service job. These could range from hunting guides to fishing charter captain. It is a very unique job market and economy that is found in British Columbia. Four out of every five jobs in BC is a service related job.

British Columbia used to be known for its goods but that economy is one that these days only accounts for about a quarter of the gross domestic product that comes from British Columbia. 40 years ago it was the complete opposite; goods accounted for about 65 percent of jobs with the others going the way of service.

The good thing about the goods market in British Columbia is that with less goods being produced, less labour is needed but that labour is able to work and produce with optimal numbers. The goods that are being produced in the province make good revenue because there is a lesser workforce. British Columbia accounts for 13 percent of the total GDP of Canada.

Even with the current economic letdown that is going on worldwide, Canada and British Columbia has fared very well. Unemployment is not the problem it is like it is in the United States where ten percent of the population is without a job. Working in British Columbia is something that will have a person looking towards working for some kind of service or better than that have some kind of self-employed job. British Columbia is a thriving and prospering economy that contributes very well to the lives of the province and to the great nation of Canada.

In a recent study involving students from the UBC at Kelowna, there have been huge interests placed on student loans coupled with fewer student grants available.

In a recent study involving students from the University of British Columbia at Kelowna, there have been huge interests placed on student loans coupled with fewer student grants available for post secondary education. Offering low cost education opportunities for students should be a major concern in the BC Interior and legislators should go out of their way to help students to secure a financially feasible college education.

Kirk Chavarie, a coordinator with the University of British Columbia Students Union, says that college debt these days can get up in excess of $30,000 and with the threat of a worldwide economic downfall, a lot of kids will not be able to afford to go to college. Chavarie goes on to suggest that a lot of college graduates these days are having to work minimum wage jobs because of the unstable economy.

‘There have not been any politicians who have came out and tried to address student debt. There has not been any concrete plans but there certainly needs to be more upfront grants’ stated Chavarie. One politician that Chavarie noted that has shown interest in the Student Union’s plight is the NDP Leadership candidate, Adrian Dix. Dix says that there have been huge cutbacks in education and that is the reason that funding has been lacking. Dix says that big banks need to be taxed more to help with education funding. Dix also says that other programs that are looking to be taxed in the near future would need to have those taxes eliminated so more focus could be cast upon the education crisis.

Dix also said that the new Carbon energy tax like the one that is being proposed in Australia would also help with extra funding. The bottom line is that college students and the ability for them to continue their education is a major concern in the BC Interior and it is a good sign that people are going out of their way to ensure that students will have a bright future in academia and casting light on their cause and struggle.

The governments of Canada and India have reached a major agreement which allows for the importing of Canada pine, spruce, and fir to India.

In this day and time, the world has had to lean on its neighbors so it can keep their economies turning. In most of the world the local economies are still relatively weak and there is the ever increasing worries and threats that there could be another economic recession and meltdown just around the corner. Countries that are suffering have to rely on others so they can get by. The BC Interior has been able to make it through this past economic crisis better than most countries. The one thing that has allowed the Interior to thrive so well is it tourism and services industry generated from the recent international exposure due to the Olympics in Vancouver. Imports have also played a big part in holding the BC Interior strong. One country that has been depending on the BC Interior is India.

The governments of Canada and India have reached a major agreement which allows for the importing of Canada pine, spruce, and fir to India. The majority of this wood would come from the sawmills in the BC Interior. What it has done is open the Canadian market to the Indians, who have in the past relied on China and the United States for the biggest part of their imported lumber goods. According to Interior officials, the BC Interior sawmills take in about $25 million into the Interior economy. With this new deal with India that number could double even triple within the next five years. This is where these type of partnerships are beneficial. It is helping India fill a need but at the same time improving the economy of Canada and the BC Interior in particular.

Lumber is not the only product that the Interior is helping with the world’s economy. Canadian silver has also become a hot commodity and with the various commemorative silver coin and silver proof sets that are due out this year, the Canadian silver industry could see a huge rise. Investors from all over the world have become fascinated with Canadian silver. People are investing in silver with the expectation that its price will rise as the financial numbers have been indicating. These pure silver coins could one day turn over a huge profit. There are some analysts that are saying that precious metals such as silver could be the thing that puts this world back on its feet.

This deal with India now sets up the opportunity for more exports that could come from Canada and the Interior. Coupled with the increased demand for Canadian silver, the future certainly looks bright for the British Columbia Interior.

For Canadians and folks from the BC Interior and the province as a whole, the Royal Canadian Mint has stepped up its production of gold coins for that same anticipation.

Investment analyst are saying that within the next five or so years, the world’s monetary system could be one that would be so weak that its value will be worthless. The big advice from today’s investment consultants is that precious metals such as gold should be stockpiled in people’s portfolio’s for when the day comes that gold supply is none and the demand is the highest that it has ever been.

For Canadians and folks from the BC Interior and the province as a whole, the Royal Canadian Mint has stepped up its production of gold coins for that same anticipation. There is no better time than now for residents of the Interior to start investing in Canadian gold coins. Gold closed on the New York markets this past week at $1,350 an ounce, with some projections carrying the price on up to $1,600 by the end of the year.

With gold being the bullish investment advice that it is, one gold coin set that would be excellent for Interior residents to check out is one that has not come out on the market yet but is certain to sell and sell quick. It is the Canadian Gold 7 Coin Specimen Set with Great Gray Owl Dollar. The Gray Owl Dollar will only be made for 2011 but the other coins are normal Canadian coin denominations and feature animals common to the Interior and Canada as a whole such as the beaver, the caribou, the polar bear, and the great gray owl. The great thing about this set is that it is cheap and affordable.

The best thing to do is go on to the internet and check out the various gold coin denominations and sets that have the Canadian mark on them. Better yet look for all gold coins and proofs from all over the world. The time is coming where gold could certainly become a viable means for business and at some investment firms it already is. If you are living in the BC Interior, the best investment advice that a person could get is to be bullish on the investment of gold, gold bullion, and gold coins.

With the ever increasing news that precious metals could become the thing that could take over for a nation’s currencies, the news has been the more and more Canadians are starting to invest in silver. This is actually a trend that is going on all over the world and the price of silver has seen the highest prices that it has ever been over the past couple of months. There are various factors that have caused the price of silver to increase but the main thing is that there is a high demand for it worldwide and the supply is getting lower.

Just like in the United States, Canada has seen a sharp increase in the production of their official gold and silver bullion. Every nation in the world has an official silver coin and in Canada it is the Canadian Silver Maple Leaf coin. The country started this back in the late 80′s when the Calgary Olympics took place. There have been four different designs on the coin but since 2004 the official silver coin is the Canadian Silver Maple Leaf coin.

The reason that these coins are so special is because they are made of 99.99 percent silver. Canada is another one of the countries who are looking to join the bandwagon of ones all across the world who are advising that stockpiling of silver and silver bullion would be a good thing to do. The bottom line is that the world is in the midst of its worst economic recession in history. The oil markets are unstable. The stock markets are too volatile. JP Morgan Chase recently announced that they will accept silver in certain transactions. Precious metals could certainly play an important part in the future and the economy of the BC Interior and the province as a whole.

The best piece of advice that a person can get these days is if you live in the BC Interior, you might want to start saving up your Canadian Silver Maple Leaf coins. With the increase of the demand of silver across Canada and the world, excess silver could be the thing that could bring a huge excess in revenue and the Silver Maple Leaf coin would be a nice way to start.

According to the Citizenship and Immigration Bureau of Canada, there are about 170,000 people who apply for Canadian citizenship each year.

Anyone who has ever visited the British Columbia Interior or Canada will tell you that if that had their wish, they would certainly wish that they could stay and live here. Life cannot get any better than it is in the great BC Interior. This leads to the question of exactly how a person who is a non-native Canadian could be able to apply to gain citizenship. Applying for Canadian citizenship is not very much different than their North American cousin in the United States. It is something that takes a little preparation but in the end a person will find out that it is pretty much simple and before they know it they too will be a Canadian.

According to the Citizenship and Immigration Bureau of Canada, there are about 170,000 people who apply for Canadian citizenship each year. The most important thing that a person must figure out is if they are eligible for citizenship. In order for a person to be able to apply for Canadian citizenship they must be at least 18 years of age; have a permanent residence somewhere in the country; must have lived in Canada for more than three years out of the last four; show a mastery of one of the two official languages: English or French; should have a clean criminal record in Canada over the past three years up to when a person applies; and there is a knowledge of the country. An applicant will have to take a test where they will be asked questions pertaining to who the Prime Minister is and other facts about the country.

If you meet all the requirements and are able to pass the citizenship test, then you will be notified by mail that you have been accepted for citizenship and then you would attend a citizenship ceremony where you are officially named a Canadian citizen. In some cases an applicant may be asked to give fingerprints but that is not the case all of the time. It is pretty much a simple process.

So if you are a person who has already got a home somewhere in the BC Interior and are looking to become a permanent resident, check with Citizenship and Immigration of Canada at www.cic.gc.ca and it is there where you start the process. In no time you will become a part of the fabric of the BC Interior.

The Canada-US border may seem like one of the most peaceful international borders in the world today, and in fact it is the longest un-militarized border in the world. Despite this, it has actually been the subject of quite a few controversies over the centuries.

The location of the present Canada-US border was set by the Treaty of Paris in 1783, which ended the Revolutionary War. The Jay Treaty of 1794 created the International Boundary Commission, whose responsibility it was to survey and later to map this boundary. Their task was made difficult by the terrain, which includes mountains, heavy forests, remote farmlands, and the Great Lakes and other bodies of water.

After the Louisiana Purchase of 1803, in which the United States gained a large swath of western land, it was generally agreed that the boundary between this land and Canada was along the watershed between the Missouri and Mississippi rivers on one side and the Hudson Bay basin on the other. Since it is very difficult to survey a watershed-based boundary in an area of level plains, a compromise in 1818 set the boundary at the 49th parallel, extending west to the Rocky Mountains. Because this line was originally surveyed using nineteenth-century techniques, in some places the boundary line differs from the actual 49th parallel by as much as several hundred feet.

As civilization expanded westward, the boundary was later extended along the 49th parallel. Disputes along this boundary resulted in the Aroostook War, a little-known war in American history. The resulting Webster-Ashburton Treaty of 1842 better defined the boundary, particularly between Maine in the United States and New Brunswick in Canada, as well as between present-day Ontario and Minnesota, in the Great Lakes region.

Just two years later, in 1844, a dispute arose about the boundary line near the western coast. The Oregon Treaty resolved this conflict in 1846, establishing the 49th parallel as the boundary line all the way to the Pacific Ocean. Above present-day Washington state, the boundary with British Columbia was set at the middle of the Strait of Juan De Fuca. The Northwest Boundary Survey of 1857 to 1861 laid out this boundary on the land, but not over the water. There are actually two straits in the Strait of Juan De Fuca that could be considered the middle of the channel, making the surveyors’ task difficult here.

The water boundary between present-day Washington State and British Columbia was not settled until after the 1859 Pig War, so named because the war started when a farmer shot a pig on his land. After years of tension, this boundary was finally settled in 1872 by a third-party commission.

The International Boundary Commission, which dates to 1794, was made a permanent organization in 1925. It is responsible for surveying and mapping the boundary and maintaining permanent boundary monuments on land and boundary buoys in water. This commission operates on an annual budget of about $1.4 million USD. This joint commission has both Canadian and American members.

With the horrible financial crisis of last year, more and more people are becoming afraid of what will happen with their college degree that they worked so hard for. Some people who had college degrees found themselves working at fast food joints because they couldn’t find other jobs that were related to what they went into in school. However, there were other people with degrees that have a totally set life because no matter how bad the economy got, they were needed in the professional field. Here are a few of those areas of work.

The medical field. It doesn’t matter if no one has any money, people are always going to get sick and hurt which means that you are always going to have a job. Dentists are considered a part of the medical field, but they definitely don’t get the same job security that doctors do. So, if you want a job that will always be secure, consider going into the medical field.

Law and politics. Although a few people may have been laid off during the recession, the majority of people in these two fields stayed in a very secure job standing. In times of a recession, the country needs more leadership and more lawyers to take care of the bad things that are going on. These are not luxury jobs that people can’t afford, because these are jobs that will always be around. So, another great option to go into when you start working on your degree is either political science or law.
